We extend our warmest congratulations to Chrissie Muhr, who has succeeded Bauhaus Earth Alumni Prof. Dr. Matthias Ballestrem, previously Co-Managing Director of Experimental and Program Director of the Bauhaus Earth Fellowship program (BE-FELLOW) from 2022 to March 2024.
In March 2024, Chrissie Muhr took over the further development and establishment of Experimental as Co-Managing Director and Artistic Director. As an architect, researcher and curator, in her new role, she will continue to build on her strategic practice and agency in the transition to sustainable architecture.
Matthias Ballestrem proceeds as a professor at TU Dortmund and will remain associated with Experimental as a member of the advisory board. Experimental will hence be managed by founder and partner Prof. Regine Leibinger, Hans-Wilhelm Käsewieter and Chrissie Muhr. You can read Experimental’s full press release here.
The Fellowship Program
Since 2022, BE-FELLOW – a collaboration between Experimental and Bauhaus Earth – has been funding selected, exceptionally talented, emerging protagonists of the Bauwende. BE-FELLOW awarded its first fellowship to the London-based Material Cultures. With three more fellows – Baukreisel, Kevin Kimwelle and Angie Dub & Heidi Jalkh – we continue to support experimental projects that generate new knowledge about regional, bio-based and circular construction and aim to produce tangible demonstrations of new ways of building.
Bauhaus Earth would like to thank Matthias Ballestrem for his integral role in developing BE-FELLOW and promoting sustainability in the field of architecture. Matthias’ dedication and vision have laid a strong foundation for the programme’s success, and his guidance will be missed as he transitions to his new role at TU Dortmund.
Bauhaus Earth is incredibly excited to welcome Chrissie as the new BE-FELLOW chair, alongside our very own Program Co-Managers Rosa Hanhausen and Alexine Sammut. Her wealth of experience, passion for innovation and commitment to driving positive change make her the perfect fit for this position. Chrissie will develop the Experimental and BE-FELLOW program to include new formats such as publications, exhibitions and symposia, as well as new collaborations and networks.
The next BE-FELLOW Open Call will be announced in May 2024. Subscribe to our newsletter and follow us on Insta and LinkedIn to stay up to date! For further inquiries, please don’t hesitate to get in touch at be-fellow(.at.)bauhauserde.org.
