BAMBU BARU: Accelerating Regenerative Construction in Indonesia

Indonesia presents an opportunity to demonstrate regenerative construction at a transformational scale, addressing one of the world's most pressing climate challenges while creating sustainable economic systems that are relevant both for communities and for industry. This project aims to leverage Indonesia's potential to become a leader in regenerative construction by using regionally sourced materials, particularly bamboo, given its wide availability.

Through a strategic partnership with the Base Bahay Foundation (BBF) as our primary technology partner, Bauhaus Earth aims to mobilise its established network in the country to work towards large-scale adoption of bamboo building products for flexible unit configurations. This includes an adapted version of BBF’s Cement-Bamboo Frame Technology (CBFT) across the construction industry, including public and private investments.

Based on research and development, prototyping, and a selected pilot developed in cooperation with the Indonesian National Government (“Sekolah Rakyat” / “People’s School” Programme), we seek to generate diversified demand, supporting long-term value chain sustainability.
