bauhaus earth

Our first book is out now!

“Reconstructing the Future: Cities as Carbon Sinks” compiles papers presented by world-renowned scientists, architects, spatial planners, activists, and policymakers at the Reconstructing the Future for People and Planet conference hosted by Bauhaus Earth and Pontifical Academy of Sciences (PAS) in June 2022.

With contributions from Wael Al Awar, Shigeru Ban, Francesca Bria, Sandrine Dixson-Declève, Ana María Durán Calisto, Andrea Gebhard, Andreja Kutnar, Elspeth MacRae,  Giovanna Melandri, Klaus Mindrup, Fredric Mosley, Marc Palahí, Sheela Patel, Edgar Pieterse, Carlo Ratti, Hans Joachim Schellnhuber, Joachim von Braun, Ursula von der Leyen, Olena Vozniak, Venla Wallius, Geoffrey West, and Xu Tiantian.

Editors Hans Joachim Schellnhuber and Rocío Armillas Tiseyra have shepherded a volume that looks at the players, actions, and inactions involved in the deliberate extraction of carbon from the air through a paradigm shift in the construction, maintenance, and demolition of cities.

You can order the paperback from Birkhäuser – or check out the Open Access version, available on Birkhäuser and De Gruyter.

Bauhaus Earth would like to thank the Laudes Foundation for providing the funding for production and printing. We would also like to thank ERBUD / MOD 21 for financially supporting the Open Access licence.
