Bauhaus Earth Workshop in Berlin
Space
Our Berlin Workshop is both the site of and a demonstration of our research. Nearly every project carried out at Bauhaus Earth touches the workshop at some point — whether by using the space to test a new material, make a prototype, or host an exhibition.
Embodying our Think-and-Make philosophy, our workshop and offices are located right next to each other, allowing for an iterative exchange between theoretical work and real-world demonstration. The Workshop fosters collaboration across our teams and with our partners, from material and technical research to experimental design to building science. Located on Campus Atelier Gardens, just south of the former Tempelhof Airport in Berlin, the over 500 m2 Workshop provides the infrastructure for experimentation and prototyping with bio-based materials and waste streams. In addition, the Workshop aims to showcase cutting-edge research and innovation from around the world to build the necessary support within policy and civil society.
Materials
Something about research approach - value chains?
From non-uniform deciduous timber to unfired earth blocks to "reedcrete", our Workshop has already been able to make major achievements in the development, testing, and demonstration of regional and regenerative materials.

We are happy to work with organisations that further regenerative building though materials, prototypes, or experiments.

Demonstrators
The Workshop not only seeks to bridge research and practice: it's also a space for public discussion and co-creation. Our collaborative spirit catalyses critical R&I partnerships with frontrunners in architecture, art, engineering, climate science, regional land use policy, and forest ecology. We host innovators through fellowships and training programmes, public lectures, exhibitions, and symposia.

Our Workshop in Berlin is part of a global network of organizations and collaborators with similar approaches or missions. We believe this practive will helpt to foster the breakthrough and scaling of new models of climate-forward, ecologically integrated construction.
